I have gathered some of the logos that came up in a Google search. What is striking to me is the use of curves in most of them. Circles, arches, ellipses are used frequently as I think that they are more pleasing to the eye. Blue is a calming color, also representing faithfulness and security and is used frequently. I thought it interesting that red is used in both the Coca-Cola and Pepsi logo. Red is for strength and is bold. Blue, yellow and red are apparently the favorite colors in this selection. Most of the logos have changed over the years and it was fun to read about the history of some of these, like Apple’s logo, from a scene of Sir Isaac Newton below a tree, with and inspirational quote to a rainbow apple, to indicate that it could reproduce color, and then the bite out of the fruit to show it was an apple vs. a cherry, to a clear apple. Pepsi used to use capital letters and now only uses lower case. Toyota uses 3 ellipses to represent 3 hearts. And the Fedex arrow is very clever, I also like that they use purple and orange. The Goodyear logo was inspired by the greek god of speed, Hermes, which is clever. The Touro University logo is one of my favorites as it is simple, direct, clear and I like the font choice for the University, it conveys dignity.
